e-Welfare

Before deployment

During the preparations for your deployment, you will of course want to know exactly how to keep in contact with your family and friends at home. To make things easy for you, we have itemised below all the things you can do already in order to make the best use of the e-Welfare system.

  • Create an e-Welfare account via this website (you will need this account for both the Internet and telephony, even though phone calls from Afghanistan to the Netherlands are free.
  • Credit your account now.
  • It is useful to take your electronic access key (the gadget you need for Internet banking) with you so you can pay by iDEAL if necessary.
  • Take a print-out of your account details.
  • Take a simlock-free mobile phone (not more than four years old to ensure compatibility with the system). Then you can start using the e-Welfare GSM network (except for Mirage). Read more about GSM >>
  • Ask your family and friends to read the information for the home front given on this site.
